New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor responded to the controversial praise of Prime Minister Modi and the LDF government in Kerala. While asserting that he is still available to the party, he issued a warning, stating that if the party believes he is no longer needed, he has other options. Tharoor spoke about this in the I Malayalam podcast. Recently, in his article, he praised Kerala's startup policy and Modi’s meeting with U.S. President Trump. His comments have garnered significant attention in political circles.
Responding to the controversy surrounding his comments, Tharoor said, "There is a leadership vacuum in Kerala Congress. Other party leaders have supported my views on this matter. To attract new voters, Congress needs to expand its base. I am ahead of others in the race for state leadership. This has been made clear in several polls. If Congress doesn't expand its influence, it will be forced to sit in opposition for the third time in the upcoming elections," he emphasized.
He clarified that he spoke for the broader interest of the country and the state, and that he couldn't always speak for the party's interests alone. Tharoor stated that he would never limit himself and called for the expansion of the party by attracting new voters ahead of next year’s Kerala Assembly elections. He also mentioned that he is qualified for the position of Kerala Chief Minister, with several opinion polls confirming this.
