Hyderabad: Former Minister Harish Rao said that the collapse of the SLBC tunnel is a reflection of the Congress's incompetence. He criticized the Congress leaders for starting a project without proper planning and abandoning it at the initial stage. He also pointed out that the recent incident of the collapse of the retaining wall in Sunkishala and today's collapse of the SLBC tunnel are clear signs of the failure of the Congress's commission government.

Despite noticing that small amounts of earth had been falling for the past four days, no precautionary measures were taken, he alleged. Harish Rao said that the government is fully responsible for this incident. He also mentioned that eight people who were working when the tunnel in the Amrabad Mandal of Nagarkurnool District collapsed are trapped. Harish Rao responded on this incident via Twitter.

Harish Rao urged that immediate rescue operations be carried out to safely bring out those trapped in the tunnel, and that better medical care should be provided to the injured to save their lives. He demanded that de-watering be done immediately, electricity be restored, debris be cleared, and workers be evacuated promptly. Harish Rao also called for an investigation into the incident by the National Dam Safety Authority.
